Privacy Policy
BibleQuest is a product of Winterhill Media LLC. This policy explains what we collect, why we use it, and the choices you have.
Effective August 30, 2026
What this policy covers
This policy covers BibleQuest’s native iPhone app, website, progressive web app, account features, support, and related services. Platform-specific behavior is identified below. It does not control a third party’s own website or service, even when BibleQuest links to it.
Information you choose to provide
Depending on the platform and features you use, you may provide an email address, display name, and profile photo for an account; prayers, reflections, notes, bookmarks, quests, reading progress, settings, and Journey activity; and messages you send to support. Prayer and reflection text is sensitive personal content and may reveal religious or philosophical beliefs. BibleQuest does not require a denomination, legal name, precise location, or contact list.
Information created when you use BibleQuest
In the website and progressive web app, signed-out app data is stored in that browser on that device. When you sign in, app data can sync to your protected BibleQuest account so it is available across devices. In the native iPhone app, guest data is stored in the app’s protected local Application Support area and is excluded from device backups. Signing in does not upload guest data. Only Prayer journal entries you explicitly choose to adopt are copied to your protected account; other guest data remains device-only. Account records use per-user access controls. We may also receive limited technical information needed to authenticate you, prevent abuse, deliver requested passages on the web, complete a web purchase or one-time support payment, and keep the service reliable. Synced app records use per-user database access controls so one account cannot read another account’s rows.
How we use information
We use information to provide and sync the features you request, remember your settings, restore your Journey, authenticate accounts, process support requests and payments, protect the service, diagnose failures, meet legal obligations, and improve BibleQuest. We do not sell personal information, use prayer or reflection text for advertising, or use private writing to train or prompt AI without a separate, explicit choice.
Analytics are optional
The native iPhone app does not include analytics. On the website and progressive web app, analytics are off until you opt in. If enabled, the web app sends allowlisted event names and small bounded values to Plausible. It excludes prayer, reflection, note, and verse text; names and contact details; account and record IDs; authentication tokens; and URL queries or hashes. Turning web analytics off clears pending events. The web app also respects browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals.
Service providers
We use service providers only for defined tasks: Supabase for authentication and protected account storage; Apple for optional Sign in with Apple in the native iPhone app; Vercel for website hosting and operational delivery; Plausible for optional web analytics; Stripe for optional web subscriptions and one-time support payments; Tally for the BibleQuest newsletter; and reviewed Bible providers for requested online web editions. BibleQuest 1.2 for iPhone does not offer purchases. Stripe receives the payment and contact details needed to run web Checkout, subscriptions, receipts, refunds, and disputes; BibleQuest does not receive full card numbers. Providers process information under their own terms and privacy notices. Bible requests do not include your prayers, reflections, name, or BibleQuest account ID.
Signing in with Apple
If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple and Supabase process the authentication credential needed to sign you in. Apple may provide your email address or an Apple private relay address. BibleQuest does not use the Apple identity credential for analytics, and the app does not retain the Apple identity token or nonce after the sign-in exchange. The resulting BibleQuest session is stored in the iPhone Keychain so you can remain signed in.
Online Bible editions
The native iPhone app reads its bundled public-domain World English Bible and does not make a third-party Scripture request. On the website and progressive web app, BibleQuest can request a passage from the HelloAO Free Use Bible API for reviewed open editions. For a separately licensed web edition, API.Bible may receive the requested passage and random device or session identifiers required for usage reporting. Choosing the bundled World English Bible avoids a third-party Scripture request.
How long information is kept
Device-only data remains until you clear it, remove the relevant browser storage or native app, or lose access to that device. Private native app files are excluded from iPhone backups. Account and support records remain while needed to provide the service, resolve a request, protect against abuse, or meet legal duties. Payment, invoice, refund, and dispute records may remain after account deletion when needed for accounting, fraud prevention, legal retention, or resolving a transaction; BibleQuest detaches unnecessary application ownership where practical. When other deletion is completed, limited copies may remain temporarily in access-restricted provider backups until they roll off through the provider’s normal backup cycle.
Your choices and rights
Available controls differ by platform. Web Settings lets you export readable web app data, clear web app data, choose whether to use web analytics, and change preferences. Native iPhone Settings lets you clear device-only guest data, change app preferences, sign out, and delete a signed-in account. The native app does not currently provide a data export or analytics setting because it does not include analytics. Depending on where you live, you may also ask to access, correct, delete, restrict, or receive a copy of personal information, or object to or withdraw consent for certain processing. We will not discriminate against you for making a privacy request.
Deleting app data or an account
In the native iPhone app, “Clear Guest Data” removes device-only guest content but does not change signed-in account data. “Delete Account” closes the signed-in identity and deletes its synced account records; device-only guest data stays on that iPhone unless you separately clear it. In the web app, “Clear my data” removes web app content from that browser and, when signed in and sync is available, requests deletion of synced web app records. Clearing app data does not by itself close the login identity. If an account deletion control is unavailable or you need help, email biblequestco@proton.mefrom the account email. We may verify an email request and will aim to complete it within 30 days unless law requires otherwise.
Security and international processing
We use encryption in transit, access controls, limited production access, and service monitoring designed to protect information. No online service or device storage is completely secure, and account sync is not end-to-end encrypted. Our providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to the protections required by applicable law.
Children and teens
BibleQuest is not directed to children under 13. If local law requires parental consent for a young person to use an online service, they should use BibleQuest only with that consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child who cannot legally provide it. A parent or guardian may contact us to request review or deletion.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as BibleQuest changes. We will post the new effective date here and provide additional notice before a material change when required. Continued use after the effective date means the updated policy applies, subject to rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
